      Ganesh Chaturthi

   |- Ganesh Chaturthi is a vibrant and widely celebrated Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune.

   |- The festival marks the birth of Ganesha and is observed with great enthusiasm across India and in various parts of the world where Indian communities reside.

|- The festival gained significant prominence and public scale during the British colonial period in India. The Maratha king Shivaji was known to have celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi, but it was during the 19th century that it became a major public event.

|- The turning point for the public celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi came with the efforts of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, a prominent freedom fighter and social reformer. In the late 19th century, Tilak recognized the potential of the festival as a unifying force to foster national unity and pride during the struggle for independence.
